Better segmentation options
in progress

Segmentation options are rather limited right now. Even a simple set of "I'm interested in" options for subscribers isn't possible. This could be significantly improved in two ways:
- add the option to segment based on wp_usermeta fields. This would allow me to gather subscriber information by many other methods (Gravity Forms, Buddy Press, etc), and then create email segments based on that.
- add a PHP API which would allow me to define my own segments by any criteria I want. While this would require a developer to take advantage of, it might make it easier for creating new segmentation options in MailPoet itself, so possibly worthwhile for both third party and your own developers :-)

First new segments released - a number of orders and a number of opened emails

Would be handy to be able to create segments by user role and a custom field value.

It'd be fab to be able to segment by when the customer first bought, and by total size of purchase (in $).

Hello
Here it is a simple example (sorry, in french) of a GUI to create a segmentation from subscribers custom fields. I put it here just as an example of needs: creating groups to apply "AND", inside group applying "OR".
In this screenshot, the question/segmentation is "I want to send mail to (people who are pregnant OR have children under the age of five) AND (who live in one of these areas)".
It's running in production, with a hacked version of Mailpoet (it's hard to follow current refactoring :-))
Cheers, Cyrille.

We started working on better segmentation and the changes will start rolling out in following weeks and months

Segmentation needs logic, such as "did not open last x emails", or we should be able to select more than 1 past email they did not open. Also, to be able to combine more than one condition into a segment, such as "clicked link in email yy" AND "did not open email x". Also the OR logical operator.

Segmentation would be amazing to cross reference multiple lists. Example: Create a segment for subscribers in list a but not in list b.

I hope the MailPoet team moves this from 'planned' to working on/in progress soon. We REALLY need segmentation feature. It will open up a whole new level of flexibility and personalization to the plugin that is currently lacking.
A tagging feature that adds tags to the user meta data would be a fantastic way to implement this. I'd like to tag users based on actions they take, Woo products they buy, etc. and then send emails out based on what tags they have or don't have. This is a must-have feature!

I wonder if Mail Poet will move toward being more professional like MooSend or even Convert kit feature wise. Even though I have a lifetime deal, it is just missing too many basic functions to invest in as a business solution. Hopefully Woo Commerce will make this more useful.
