if you group links from a newsletter in segmentation with tags as a topic, then you could use that tag as an interest when segmenting subscribers.

This is still under Review?? Please can MP explain what the review process is. It would seem with this many votes and being a feature most if not all the main competitors have that the review process would have been over by now...

Tagging

Tools like ActiveCampaign and Infusionsoft have the ability to apply tags to subscribers. The tags are not only for segmentation purposes, but can trigger events or flows. This would be VERY useful. The guys at GroundHogg have this figured out. They are ex-Infusionsoft and I guess they have taken the concept further . Check it out!

I'm horrified I moved to MP without realizing the limited reporting, nearly complete lack of segmentation logic, total lack of tagging, and engagement reporting that you can't take any actions on.

Tagging in a list

TAG subscribers in one list. Segmentation is good, but yet you get the same subscriber in every list you segmented. The idea of TAGGING is one list and give subscribers flags = TAGs to filtering and selecting for special interessts and letter, mostly in a automated way.

Another basic feature I would expect to see in such a program. I really want to make this my main app for email, but so many features seem to be missing 9 years in.

Had I realised that you could not tag subscribers, I would most likely not have recommended MP to my clients nor purchased MP. Unfortunately I did not do my due diligence and deployed MP into a client before I worked this out.
This is so basic it beggars belief it's not possible. Even free Mailchimp provides decent tagging and tag based segmentation.

Kelly: MailChimp looks better and better. I have a SEDN IN BLUE account too, which looked a little cheaper once the list grows than MC, with about the same features. Mail Jet had similar pricing. Send Fox is nice but it is missing a lot fo pro features too. This may end up as a secondary product for a while until they catch up. I would not consider this a cheap product to buy if your list is large, so I don't understand how they justify missing so many features, including A/B testing and tagging, and even the automations are limited.

Kelly: MP too busy worrying about what they want and NOT what customers NEED. Building out all the Woo Commerce features (great sure but compared to features like this?) is ridiculous. Sadly this is way to common. People build stuff based on what gives them a dopamine hit and not what market tells them is required.

Freddy Baker: It appears they have been reoriented into being a Woocommerce enhancement, rather than the email service they set out to be, before Automattic bought them.

Lee Busch: Whatever way you want to look at it. It's DUMB!
